At ATC, science, technology, engineering, and math skills form the basis of a range of careers that allow our prospective and current employees to make a difference in the energy industry. Employees with STEM skills provide our company with the fuel to meet the challenges facing an evolving energy future.
Some of the STEM-related positions within our company include civil, electric and mechanical engineers, cybersecurity and computer engineers and analysts, and financial and risk management professionals. Our future workforce and business success depend on quality STEM education.
At ATC, we know it takes serious brain power to keep the electric grid running smoothly and this year we’re again bringing a focus to career opportunities at ATC with some help from other smart teams.
ATC continues to partner with University of Wisconsin-Madison and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women’s volleyball and basketball teams to raise awareness of STEM education and careers. Women’s volleyball and basketball fans will see ATC’s presence at Badger and Panthers home matches, games and campus events in the 2024-25 seasons.
Women have long been underrepresented in STEM occupations, which is why ATC has chosen to partner with women’s college sports to support the connection between STEM careers and women. According to the United States Census Bureau, women make up nearly half of the U.S. workforce but only 27% of STEM employees.
These partnerships are a wonderful opportunity for ATC to engage more women in STEM occupations, widen our career net and empower our future workforce with the skills necessary to succeed. We also hire many STEM graduates for full-time careers at our company.
