A foundation for success

INTERNSHIPS

ATC’s paid internships help college students gain professional experience and prepare for a career in the electric utility industry. Our student employees can apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations, and experience what it takes to operate the regional electric grid that millions of energy users rely on. Some of our interns complete more than one internship at ATC, and many have become full- time employees after graduation. We also keep in contact with our interns after graduation and keep them in mind for future open positions. A steady infusion of enthusiastic people and their ideas complements the loyalty, experience and maturity of our seasoned professionals. This balance strengthens our corporate culture and develops a pool of potential leaders.

Our Locations

We have four office locations across Wisconsin and Michigan where our over 500 employees enjoy unique local perks and communities.

Pewaukee (located in Waukesha County, Wis.) offers all the services and amenities to safely live, work and enjoy recreational activities. With a population of nearly 390,000, Waukesha County is one of the fastest growing counties in Wisconsin. The county offers ample recreation at parks and bike trails as well as easy access to lakes. Additionally, this area of Wisconsin is famous for its rich craft brewing history, so beer enthusiasts are never far from an excellent brewery. Within or close to Waukesha County are larger metropolises including the cities of Waukesha, Brookfield and Wisconsin’s largest city, Milwaukee. Waukesha County is also less than a two-hour drive to Chicago. The close proximity to larger cities with museums, award-winning restaurants and entertainment opportunities (such as the world’s largest music festival and professional basketball and baseball teams) gives employees at the Pewaukee location the best of both worlds when it comes to big city living and the suburban lifestyle.

Cottage Grove, Wis. (located in Dane County) features the benefits of suburban living with easy access to one of the best places to live in the U.S. – the state’s capital of Madison. Dane County offers an array of parks and forests to explore as well as many opportunities for youth and adult enrichment through community programs. The quick drive to Madison offers even more opportunities for recreation, options for entertainment and access to Lakes Mendota and Monona, which residents enjoy year-round. The easy commute from Madison to our Cottage Grove office makes it a great location with something for everyone between the many thriving communities, top notch schools, and a variety of recreation, dining and lifestyle options.

De Pere, Wis., is home to a historic downtown that offers unique shopping, casual and fine dining and live entertainment including a comedy theatre and several live music venues. The city of 25,000 residents, located in Brown County, also features many outdoor recreation opportunities due to its location on the Fox River (which hosts the Fox River Trail, maintained year-round) and close proximity to Lake Michigan. De Pere is also home to the top-ranked St. Norbert College, which brings a unique and innovative atmosphere to the city. As a suburb of Green Bay (metro population: 320,000), De Pere also offers easy access to the amenities of a larger city, including Lambeau Field (the home of the Green Bay Packers) which is less than a 10-mile drive from the ATC office. The area is also a reasonable drive to the Fox Valley cities, a compilation of 19 quickly growing communities in the greater Appleton area along the Fox River. Whether you’re an active family, an outdoor enthusiast or a dedicated Cheesehead, De Pere offers the amenities and opportunities to suit any lifestyle.

Kingsford, Mich., is centrally located on the south border of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in Dickinson County. One of the area’s youngest communities, Kingsford and nearby Iron Mountain have a combined population of over 12,000, and offer a family- and business-friendly community with superb schools, diverse industries and businesses. All of these perks are also in an area that offers a wide array of recreational opportunities with a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. Local parks, sports fields, accessible state land and dozens of nearby lakes offer outdoor enthusiasts plenty of options for after-work and weekend fun. The area also has many of the best restaurants in the Upper Peninsula. Beyond Kingsford, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula boasts access to Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, premier fishing, hunting and skiing all within a reasonable drive of the ATC office.
